The Enidi Members proudly present Robert John Godfrey's 70th Birthday Concert.

“To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.”  - Ludwig van Beethoven

On August 6th 2017 in a glorious concert promoted by The Enidi members, fans flocked from around the world to celebrate the 70th birthday of The Enid’s legendary founder, Robert John Godfrey, held in Union Chapel, one of London’s most famous and hallowed live venues. The stained glass windows of The Chapel provided the perfect backdrop to the music of “one of the greatest composers this country has ever produced” (Tommy Vance, on Radio 1’s Friday Rock Show)

The setlist was chosen by Robert John Godfrey and featured much of his favourite music from The Enid’s catalogue, spanning five decades, some of which had not been performed live in over thirty years.

RJG also treated his audience, or “fellow travellers” as he addressed from the stage, to a solo performance of his much-anticipated forthcoming album, HOMILY, from which he performed an excerpt during this show which is included exclusively on this album.

Backed by the next generation of Enid musicians, this is the sound of a reinvigorated Robert John Godfrey. The trio of lead guitarist Jason Ducker, keyboardist Zachary Bullock and drummer Dominic Tofield play with great subtlety and dexterity throughout.

Says RJG, “Thanks to Max Read and Jason Ducker, this recording is the definitive of sound of The Enid in full flight; so reminiscence of the 70’s and 80’s. Helping Jason with the production has been a pleasure. Romantic and Reverberant – a must have?”
