And Then There Were Three
With the current band members, the band has regained a stability not seen since the 1980s because of the brotherly love that binds us.
Come walk with us. Plans are afoot, and there is much to do. As the end of my life draws nearer, I mean to leave the band's affairs in a good place for those who come after me.

A highly successful concert sponsored by The Enidi took place last October at The Met Theatre in Bury, Gtr Manchester to launch the band's new album U. Now there is more to come. A new studio album in conception and a series of shows in 2020
Robert John Godfrey talks about U below. Get U Here
The way I compose is "evolutionary", in the sense that I begin with a vision of what I want to say without knowing how or when the music will come to me, or how it will develop over time. I take a walk in the woods and wait to see where that journey leads. The vision I started with was one of Britain at the time of composing, a vision of what goes on beneath the things people tell themselves and say to each other.
When you add to that, the music and personality of Jason Ducker, I can say that together we have been on a truly unpredictable path. For those that are interested in the psychological, the specially commissioned artwork is the key to what U is really all about.
A special thanks to all our fans who have stuck with us during a turbulent and uncertain period in our recent past.
God willing, there is much more to come.

On August 6th, 2017, fans flocked from around the world to celebrate the 70th birthday of The Enid’s legendary founder, Robert John Godfrey, held in Union Chapel, one of London’s most famous and hallowed live venues. The stained glass windows of the Chapel provided the perfect backdrop to the music of “one of the greatest composers this country has ever produced,” (Tommy Vance, on Radio 1’s Friday Rock Show)
The setlist was chosen by Robert John Godfrey, and featured many of his favourite songs and instrumental compositions from The Enid’s catalogue, spanning five decades; some of which had not been performed live in over thirty years.
RJG also treated his audience, or “fellow travellers”, as he addressed from the stage to a solo performance of his much-anticipated forthcoming album, HOMILY, from which he performed an excerpt during this show which is included exclusively on this album.
Backed by the next generation of Enid musicians, this is the sound of a reinvigorated Robert John Godfrey. The trio of lead guitarist Jason Ducker, keyboardist Zachary Bullock and drummer Dominic Tofield play with great subtlety and dexterity throughout.

Says Robert John Godfrey: “I did not expect to still be alive but here I am!”
Jason Ducker – Gtr & Vocals: Jason Ducker became the band’s permanent guitarist in 2007 and has appeared on every album and in every live performance since.
Robert John Godfrey – Keys & Vocals: Robert John Godfrey founded The Enid in 1973 whilst signed to Charisma Records. His previous work with progressive music giants, Barclay James Harvest coupled with formal training as a concert pianist at the Royal College of Music set the scene for this charismatic maverick composer’s adult life.
Tristan Mitchard – Keys, Pedals & Vocals: Tristan Mitchard originally trained as an organist and has a music degree from Oxford University. His twin passions are The Enid alongside his existing career as a pop singer-songwriter. He has been friends with the band for some years and it is intended that he will become a permanent member.
Dave Storey - Drums & Percussion: Dave Storey originally joined The Enid in 1974 as a non-permanent member. He has appeared on various recordings and toured extensively with the band since that time.
Nic Willes – Percussion, Bass and Vocals: Nic Willes has featured in many live appearances with The Enid since 2009.
On Saturday, August 5th, I will be joining forces with The Enid for a special concert at London’s wonderful Union Chapel to celebrate my 70th birthday with all my friends, past present and future. I do hope that you will come. Tickets are available from here (or here if you are a member of The Enidi).
