Re: The "Currently Listening To" Thread

I saw It Bites many times in the late 80s, the highlight being the Once Around The World tour at the International Club in Manchester

Me too, it was a great show.

Re: The "Currently Listening To" Thread

I just found this radio broadcast from 1983, when The Enid recorded live for the Beeb.

It's got a great performance of ITROSS and another track on there. Last chance to hear it though, as it gets taken down at 5am tomorrow morning :( lol

Re: The "Currently Listening To" Thread

- Anathema "Weather Systems" - beautiful, lush and uplifting rock - I discovered this band with "We're Here Because We're Here", which is still one of my favourites of recent times, and this is a worthy successor I think - there's a sort of spiritual positivity there which os quite moving.

- Ian Anderson "TAAB2" - a million times better than the cash-in I was worried it might be. Of course his song-writing has always been strong, but the songs hang together really well, keeping something of the spirit of the original "Thick as a Brick" while standing on its own as a very strong album - the best (almost) Jethro Tull album for some time.

Re: The "Currently Listening To" Thread

TT got in just ahead of me. I'm listening to both of those.

Anathema's "Weather Systems" is outstanding. Beautifully played and spiritual as always. But the songs and arrangements are up another level and Lee Douglas gets to sing a bit more but she is vital to them now.

And the funny thing is I'm seeing them and Ian Anderson on consecutive nights next week. My first gigs in 6 months......

Very jealous!

I do like Lee Douglas' voice - it's not particularly strong, but it has a lovely, touching quality. "Lightning Song" is beautiful.

Fripp / Keeling / Singleton - The Wine Of Silence : Fripp's soundscapes orchestrated by Andrew Keeling and played by the tremendous Metropole Orchestra (if there ever is an orchestra suited to play with The Enid then it is this one) and then again sorta resoundscaped in the studio by David Singleton. The result is very much Gorecki / Arvo Pärt / John Taverner like.

Re: The "Currently Listening To" Thread

Found for a pound at local charity shop UB40 Signing Off. was attracted to the packaging, but the album is actually very good, very home made. Its message is not exactly out of place today!
At same shop The Honeydrippers Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck join forces.

Finally Jack White = Blunderbus. Brilliant!!
