Re: Live at Symphony Hall CD - Feedback

Since all public transport was/is on strike today, I had to take the car to get to work ... what looked like an unfortunate event turned out to be a wonderful two hour drive (or better: non-drive) with this album in the CD player. This is just how I remember the event, a perfect night with perfect music (while ignoring the AM adventure).
Thanks to everyone, again and again, this was a dream come true, not only for you but also for me!
PS Can´t wait for my, ahem, drive home later today ;)

Re: Live at Symphony Hall CD - Feedback

It's hard find the right words. I am so impressed by this album and I can't favor a title from that repertoire.
Unfortunately, the audience sang not as enthusiastic to Land of hope and Glory as in the past (Live at Hammersmith!).
Anyway, it was great to be at Symphony Hall.
A big thank you to everyone involved in this memorable event.

Bye for now,
Felix

PS. The mirror of Love was very well received by my friends. We had an audition last night.

Re: Live at Symphony Hall CD - Feedback

Been listening to this album since I had in the post. Trying to decide upon the best way to listen to it- in the car is good - The home counties had a good blasting of it last week as I travelled around.
But to listen to it in not 5.1 surround but in 10.2 surround is nothing short of spectacular with the lights out. I have a 5.1 surroud player which is good but also into the computer which has 5.1 surround sound and with that microsecond or three of delay fills the sound out completely, with different responses from the speaker sets only adds to it.
I am surprised the neighbours have not complained about the volume yet... or are they enjoying it?
One evening in the summer I may dismantle the system and set it up in the garden or somewhere where it can be very loud with no neighbours to complain.....
Any Enid fan who doesn't have this in their collection - sell your children to get it or your mother the next doors dog (not Elsa though).

Re: Live at Symphony Hall CD - Feedback

Ok, mine arrived in the mail today and the first track that I really wanted to hear was The Mirror Of Love and boy, does that one bring back memories. I already thought the orchestra added greatly to it on the night but now here over my own soundsystem it just sounds utterly glorious. Later tonight it will be headphone time and listening to the whole album.

So, now I have the leave and put some more finishing touches to the organising of the Xymphonia / The Enid gig in Almelo, the Netherlands.

In case you missed it, it is in the Touring section and more info here (so far Dutch only):

My memory from the Symphony Hall performance has changed. From now on, whenever I think of october 15th I will hear this recording in the back of my head.

Great job!

Re: Live at Symphony Hall CD - Feedback

Magnificent! It's taken me a while to contribute as, despite the naturally "symphonic" nature of the band I've found it surprisingly difficult to "adapt" to this more mannered, restrained approach to the music. I loved it at the concert, but on first listenings found the band sounding a bit stilted here. However, having given it time to bed down, I'm loving this different approach. I still feel various things did hold the band back here - a bit more experience working with an orchestra, rehearsal time, working sound system (!) and I think they'll flow even better and eclipse this. For all that - this is magical. I can't wait for the DVD (and surround mix)!!!
