Weyfest

The mix of a fine venue and great weather contributed a very enjoyable time at Weyfest. The Set list was Judgment, In The Region of the Summer Stars, Something Wicked This Way Comes. Don't remember the last time I heard that live. I lost touch around the time of that album, so it could be never. Then there was Space Surfing, Malacandra and Shiva. The short time slot was a bit frustrating but it was an hour spent watching and listening to The Enid live, in the company of fellow Enidis. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday I'd say!

Re: Weyfest

I thought the band seemed to really be enjoying it - they seemed really relaxed and were pleased to see the Enidi there at the front. They do notice us - Robert said he could see I was enjoying myself, and Nic said he noticed my son Nicky singing along to all the songs. Max even glanced our way to make sure we were ready to do the actions to Shiva. (Blame Ray - he's got us all copying the Max's hand gestures at the festivals).

It was a beautiful setting for a lovely festival - I enjoyed all the acts I saw there. And I even got to talk to Thijs van Leer about my old school in Belgium - he used to live next door, and his stepson, who is playing guitar with Focus now, went there, but well after me! He wasn't even born when I left. I've always been a fan of Focus, and it was good to see them and The Enid back to back. There was obviously a mutual admiration between the two composers.

I am glad though that they played there yesterday - when it was hot and sunny and very laid back - rather than today when there was a huge deluge mid-morning!

Re: Weyfest

I agree the setting was great and the whole Weyfest set up was very laid back which contributed to a great weekend.

I thought the Enid's slot and set was perfect although I was looking forward to the Dam Busters as I have fond memories from the Reading festival in the 1980s.

Jane the Sunday deluge wasn't too bad and cleared up shortly after John Otway started his set.

Wishbone Ash were enjoyable on the smaller stage on Sunday.

Can't wait till Farnham Maltings and Birmingham. :D :D
