Gateway. Performed in the early 90's as the opener, I have never heard a live recording of it (yet to find a bootleg..lol), but I remember a gig at Letchworth in 1996 ish where it sounded astounding, better than the recorded version which sounds covered in fluff - Has anyone else had to balance the volume on this track after listening to little shiners, or is it just me ? Lol

I always felt that gateway needed some further work, the beginning and end are fine but the quiet middle section is poor. The guitar solo from 1:56 is naff and could be replaced with something a bit more dynamic

The track definitely needs the current line up to make it work...

Gateway has been worked on. I was listening to Jase working out the guitar parts the other week.

Skye Boat song would be fantastic, I seem to remember this played many many many years ago.
And not forgetting Dave... Summer Holiday
Anything else would be fine by me.

Well, I'd like to hear 'The Sun' played directly after 'The Spell' (which they are doing). I remember (by some miracle) being at Stonehenge Free Festival in 83 and their ill fated gig. Twice they tried to open with 'The Sun' but dodgy power supplies and uncooperative PA system did for them. Or at least that's how I remember it.
Anyway....yes, 'The Sun' please.

How About The Elegy from Touch Me album a great rival for Mirror of Love (lovers) and a beautiful melody.
If not Once She Was from Six Pieces a brilliant arrangment of a lovely old tune.

I've always thought it a positive thing for a band to reference each of their albums in a live show. The nature of The Enid's music is that you would probably need a show lasting 4 hours to be able to accommodate all of the albums but "Elegy" would be a convenient, short and popular piece to play. As the rest of the Touch Me album is so complex I guess that it's the only piece that could possibly be played in the foreseeable future.
"Once She Was" is one of the great romantic pieces that the 1978 / 80 band produced (along with "Skye Boat Song" and "The Dreamer") but with its mood changes and the truly fabulous organ theme I would propose "Sanctus" from "Six Pieces".
