Paragraph in CRPP

There's a short paragraph regarding Robert's new album release (now obviously redundant) in Feb's Classic Rock Presents Prog in the Hot List section. Not sure when the poll results come out. It will be interesting to see how they've done.

Unfortunately The Enid did not feature anywhere in this year's CRPP Reader's poll. There seems to be a blt of apathy around. :(

Is this on-line Jane? I'd like to have a look if there's a link :)

There was also a posting on the Dutch Progressive Rock Pages about a week ago about the album.

The CRPP website is pretty non-existent, but I'm coming up tonight to see The Operatives Joe, and will bring the mag with me.

Quote Jane :- 'There seems to be a bit of apathy around'.
There are usually good reasons for apathy, it doesn't just happen for no reason.
The various 'own-goals' wont have helped, from 'Tails from the Bottom Drawer' to 'Alan Moore'. Then the other matters which are thro no fault of the band.
Also a lack of response to personal messages, or responses which made matters worse.
I know that as Forum Moderators you have always got to be positive about everything, but sometimes it is hard for some of us others !
If i think the above, then im sure there are others who have the same thoughts, which may account for poor poll results.
Let's hope for a better 2012, bring on 'Invicta' and then we'll have something very positive to shout about.... :)

Re: Paragraph in CRPP

The CRPP results are a bit unremarkable really. I did vote, and of course included The Enid, but if you consider there was no real new album last year (A&S2 being great, but not really new music) then the band's profile in the wider musical community was quite low, apart from the Symphony Hall show.

I was very disappointed that did not appear - I reckon if all of us had got behind it we could have pushed it above Prog Power, Night of the Prog and Devin Townshend - and I still feel, despite obvious controversy, that it was an amazing achievement. Maybe if the live CD had been able to be released in December that might have reminded some of us just how wonderful the musical performance that night was (rather than dwelling on controversy). I've been listening again to a very rough mp3 recording I (very naughtily and for my own consumption) did on the night - it's mono, there are some unlistenable sections where the bass was far too high, and still it took my breath away.

And I'm afraid I don't think any of the band could compete with Heather Findlay in the Heartthrob category (or Kate Bush who I voted for - sorry guys!) :D

If there is a prog heatthrob ....its Kate Bush .....end of / for all time. No discussion. The woman is an angel. Always was. Always will be.

Re: Paragraph in CRPP

I did find it amusing that all the heartthrobs were women. Just goes to show that Prog listeners are mainly make of a certain age.

I did NOT vote for Heather Findlay - who is very talented and an extremely lovely lady (and her husband is gorgeous!) and didn't vote for Kate Bush either. I did vote for one of The Enid.
