Hadn't realised she was touring soon. I've been listening to her quite a bit recently by pure coincidence.

THey're French doncha know ....but its all in English. A sort of Floyd/Porcupine/Dido-Kate Bush thing goin on/ambient + riffage. Cool

Oh and the Landmarq thing still.

The missus wont leave the house long enough for me to unleash Symphony Hall in the manner it deserves hence lack of feedback (but thx to the band for coming good on that. Good karma ....my mate will be ordering one cos he missed the show)

Got my dates mixed up. She's only got 3 left to do, all next weekend, at Milton Keynes, Salford & then Worcester. Highly recommended.

Re: The "Currently Listening To" Thread

It often takes me a while to get into things - but today someone posted a link to this track from a French band called Echoes. I immediately fell in love with it and am currently listening to their album The Black Cat's Step on Spotify and enjoying it very much.

Robin Trower.
Since the first "Chrysalis Years" box came out, I am hooked again. The second one is great but not as good as the real old stuff :)

Re: The "Currently Listening To" Thread

Puggle18 has been going on and on about the new It Bites album Map of The Past and eventually he wore me down and I went and bought a copy of it. And the verdict is.... I LOVE IT!!! :D :D

My only previous exposure to this band was the single Calling All The Heroes, which frankly I could take or leave.

This is something else altogether!

An absolutely wonderful album from start to finish and I would recommend everyone here goes out and buys a copy.

On Saturday I went to my local arts centre to see Crimson Sky, and the first act on was It Bites vocalist John Mitchell accompanied by their keyboard player John Beck. I was totally unaware they were going to be there and it was a wonderful surprise. They played a fantastic set and I am sure that It Bites is now my new second favourite band!

What I am listening to right this moment is Sibelius' Karelia Suite. This was done by The Nice many years ago, and I can't help thinking this would be great with a bit of Enidisation.

The only thing that is keeping me from following your recommendation is the unlamentable fact that I already own a copy. It's a terrific album, for sure - most certainly one to feature on my "Best albums of 2012" list at the end of the year.

Quite irrespective of the fact that Sibelius is a Finn, I must say that he is one of the greatest classical composers ever. His symphonies and tone poems are so breathtakingly brilliant that apart from them I hardly ever feel the need to listen to any of that classical stuff. (As for Enidisation, I'd suggest the first movement of the 3rd Symphony.)

During the last couple of days I've been mostly listening to Echolyn's Cowboy Poems Free and Porcupine Tree's The Sky Moves Sideways.

Re: The "Currently Listening To" Thread

Am tempted by the new It Bites and the last one "The Tall Ships" but the original band with Francis Dunnery really were something else. 3 studio albums in the late 1980's and a live album they were all outstanding and very unique. "Calling all the Heroes" wasnt typical but still a good song. I saw them at the Hammy O back in the day and whilst it wasnt all about Dunnery his identity and musical personality is writ large. Try the older albums "Once Around the Worlds" and "Eat Me in St Louis". Even my Mrs loves these. :-)

Re: The "Currently Listening To" Thread

I saw It Bites many times in the late 80s, the highlight being the Once Around The World tour at the International Club in Manchester, a hot sweaty night where they played for ages to an amazing level. The title track of that album is just prog rock heaven. Francis Dunnery solo is tremendous, especially the tour with David Sancious, a true musical great. Check out The Bridge album for a keyboard master class, and The Gulley Flats Boys for the 2 of them in perfect harmony.
