Re: What's Going on At Enid HQ?

Recovered from the rather long weekend now. The gigs went really well and the band is feeling quite uplifted. Work continues on Invicta. The post about Invicta on vinyl hasn't had a lot of replies:

Maybe I should mention the forum in the next mailout? I think people forget about it.

Jane - maybe we could do a little "crash course" on the forum, eg. how to subscribe to a forum etc. ??? maybe people are scared by it...

A lot of forums can be pretty nasty so people are put off. I'll post something on Facebook. This is actually the friendliest forum I have ever been on.

Totally agree. There are some forums I lurk on that I would dare to post on

Max - Re the vinyl, maybe talk to Steven Wilson or his team, they've consistently pressed albums in small quantities, the smallest batch I can remember being 90 copies of an IEM double vinyl. Certainly, 100 - 150 is quite common for some of SWs side projects.

The company that quoted me have a minimum run of 500 on the labels etc. I'll have a look around elsewhere and see if I can find somebody who'd do a shorter run.
Meanwhile... Robert's main music PC died on Tuesday so swapped it for another newer machine.
Today, the PC that does the brass section finally gave up too so now swapping out the network card as that seems to be the problem. Then, back to Invicta....

These poor PC's! You're working them far too hard! Just so long as nothing gets lost in the process.

Another hard disk bit the dust last night. Luckily it's the backup of the backup.. so it hasn't got my "back up" too much
Meanwhile...Invicterising continues...

Re: What's Going on At Enid HQ?

Well, Invicta has developed into a very powerful and emotional album. I think there's something in there for pretty well everyone - even a quote from In The Region, which fits in seamlessly. I'm extremely pleased with the arrangements - the dynamics take care of themselves unlike Journey's End which was always a struggle. Joe's written some excellent lyrics, the choral segments are sounding beautiful, Jason's guitar playing is amazing, the orchestrations are the best yet, Dave's done some cracking drumming (there's a lot more than on Journeys end so he's had plenty to get his teeth into on this one and more time to do so), Nic STILL hasn't recorded the final bass lines but they are pretty groovy (tomorrow!!!!) and above all, the compositions are strong, catchy and memorable. And the icing on the cake - our lovely PR folks have got us a review of the album in the Guardian. :D

Blooming gift, Max! Top work to you and the whole of the team. Let us know when the review is due. I get their Friday music blog and find it to be an excellent, non biased, well written and absolutely non sycophantic overview of new music. A non slagging- off positive review (which is hopefully what you'll get given what we and hopefully, The Guardian, have surmised so far) will be worth so, so much, in proper, serious music Brownie points so get in there!!

Having just sampled the snippets I can say that Watford's going to be quite a night.
